Best time to go: I would recommend that you plan to take this trip in the winter months if you really want to hit the rugged terrain, but each season has something special to offer, like a nice summer day on the Snake River. My favourite time of year at Jackson Hole, however, is winter time; it's when you get to see the romanticized version of the place.

Things to Do
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Speaking of the authentic Jackson Hole experience, I agree with everyone who voted this place as the number one ski destination in North America. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is known for its long runs and backcountry terrain. With more than 2500 acres of ski trails on two mountains, I’d say if you can conquer these runs, you can just about ski anywhere. If you’re not up for skiing, there are other fun activities like snowmobiling, dog sledding and snow tubing. No worries if you didn’t bring any gear, the shops at the base of the mountain offer outdoor gear and clothing for sale.
National Museum of Wildlife Art

After you’ve gotten over the adrenaline rush of the slopes, it’s worth visiting the National Museum of Wildlife Art, overlooking the Elk Refuge. Just on the outside, I met up on the grand, life-size wildlife sculptures that almost seem to call out to you to come see the rest of the artwork on the inside. Indoor, there are over 5,000 European and American wildlife art from as old as 2500 BC to present day. From photography to lithography, to paintings, it is really amazing to see.
National Elk Refuge
Wildlife art doesn’t get any better than the artwork nature produces on a daily basis and that is what you’ll get to see on the Elk Refuge through the museum’s spotting scope. It’s the best thing to do if you want to get away from the crowds at Yellowstone National Park. The Elk Refuge is actually home to over 5,000 animals and as a special treat in the winter, we can book your private horse-drawn sleigh ride across the sparkling snowscape.
Where to Dine
After seeing the gallery and its artistic treasures, you can visit the Gun Barrel Steak & Game House. This amazing restaurant offers a true Jackson Hole experience with wild game meat as its main attraction. If you’re not up for the carnivorous experience, we recommend the authentic River Rock salmon topped with garlic caper aioli. You’re sure to find something to suit your taste buds here.
