Tips & tricks for holiday travel during covid 19

Hustling and bustling through busy airports, baggage claim mishaps, delayed flights, become all worth it when you see those stunning glistening waters of the West Coast lagoon in South Africa or when those ski slopes become more visible through the cascading snowfall in Aspen. Those kinds of vacations make the journey absolutely worth it! That hustle and bustle is exactly what we’ve come to expect from any winter travel season in the United States. The holiday season is, historically, the busiest travel period in the US, and this winter should be very similar…or not?

The unwelcomed arrival of Covid19 drastically changed our lives and our travel habits since 2020, but 2021 gave us a glimmer of hope with the lockdown restrictions being lifted and a notable uptick in travel in the past few months. We can’t predict what the winter travel season will bring us, but we sure can prepare for it.

Tips & tricks for holiday travel during covid 19

With the holiday travel season just ahead, here are a few tips and tricks to help you thrive when traveling during Covid19.

Rules are Cool

Be aware of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, especially when you're traveling with your little ones. That includes getting tested one to three days before traveling, regular hand-washing with soap and water and regularly applying hand sanitizer with more than 60% alcohol. Pack wipes with 70% alcohol for surfaces, toys and electronics. You are allowed to take up to 12oz of sanitizer in your carry-on bag.

Importantly, you must follow the guidelines set by your destination. Each country has specific guidelines for travellers to follow. These may include mask wearing, proof of vaccination, testing or quarantine measures. We want you to enjoy your stress-free luxury vacation, so you must follow the rules in order to be granted access and to prevent your swift return to your home country.

Three’s a Crowd

Stay away from crowds as best as you can. Whether you wear a mask or not while on vacation, be vigilant about the distance between you and that nice lady who offered you a seat next to her. We’re definitely not saying you should be rude, but be safe while you travel. Airport crowds are hard to stay away from, but do your best to avoid them by opting for the first/business class tickets as part of your vacation package with Sydney Patterson Travel. Another important tip is to complete the early check-in process by printing your boarding passes online.

So you’ve booked your vacation already through Sydney Patterson Travel. Flexibility is something that we pride ourselves on, so if for any reason you need your flights changed, just let us know so that we can work things out. At the airport, you will see quite a few changes. Face coverings are required, and some airlines require temperature checks. Suite Life

Some of our hotel partners have created apps to speed up your check-in process or to grant you digital based access to your room with digital room keys. Hotels are doing way more to keep high sanitation standards when it comes to housekeeping, food safety and guest check-in and checkout. Just to be sure, we recommend that when you get to your hotel room, you use those 70% alcohol wipes on all hard surfaces in your suite, including your remote control, telephone, faucets and door knobs etc.
